- With only 45 minutes to answer 75 questions, you must answer a question every 30 seconds.
- An easier way to keep track of it is this: give yourself 8 minutes per passage.
- If you maintain this pace, you’ll get through the entire test with 5 minutes to spare.
- Most students miss the last questions because they run out of time. Get through each passage in eight minutes, and you’ll never run out of time on the ACT English test.
- Part of managing your time is knowing when to skip a question. If you don’t know the answer, make your best guess and move on.
- Chances are that the next question is easier.
- You’ll get way more questions right if you give yourself the chance to get all the way through test.
- Another part of getting through the English test with sufficient time is practicing thinking and working at the correct pace.
- The only way to accomplish this is to move at the correct pace while you are practicing.

Grammar Tutorials for the ACT/SAT ENGLISH Test:
Remember your 4 C's:
- Complete: must form a complete thought/sentence
- Consistent: always choose the same letter when guessing & always stick to the same grammar rules for every question
- Clear: the meaning should be clear and make sense
- Concise: BREVITY- keep it short and simple when in doubt, don't be redundant; take out extra words that aren't needed or necessary
- Don't fix what isn't broken...if "NO CHANGE" is an option lean towards it, as long as it sounds right to your ear.
- If adding or removing a COMMA is in question, lean towards REMOVING IT. (Just make sure you know your comma rules from above.)
